How much does a garage add to the value of your property?

The Nationwide Building Society in a survey, looked at the best home improvements in terms of added value to your property.

They published the following results:

Loft conversion +21%
Double garage +14.5%
Floor space +12%
Single garage +7.7%
Parking space +6.5%
Central heating +7%
Extra bedroom +6%
Extra bathroom +5%

As you can see, the addition of a garage is a valuable addition to your home.

A Double garage came Second and Single garage came fourth.

Despite the credit crunch, and the most pessimistic commentators, the average house is still valued at well in excess of £150,000, meaning that adding a double garage will add nearly £22,000 to the value of your property, and a single garage nearly £11,000, a good investment in anyone's money!

Don't underestimate the fact that, in these days of slow house sales, a new garage will make your property stand out.

First impressions count, and saleability is very important.

Don't forget that the addiition of more storage space, a workshop, office, hobby room or gym will all add additional value, AND give you the use and pleasure as well!
